II. Failure

There are only two ways that we can react to temptation. We will either overcome it or we will give in to it. Have you ever given in to temptation? How many of you know what it feels like to fail? Failure is surely a negative thing. But, can God make anything good come out of it?

I believe he can. You should want to do right and you should do all that you know how to do to stand. But, if you fall anyway, there is still something good that can come out of it. I already mentioned that temptation always reveals something. There are several lessons that God can teach you when you fail. He will teach you that the only way you are going to stand is by God’s help. We simply cannot overcome sin in our own strength. In John 15:5 (KJV) Jesus said, "Without me ye can do nothing."

It will help you to overcome pride in your life. Proverbs 6:16-17 tells us seven things that God hates. The very first one on that list is a proud look. But few things will humble you as quickly as falling flat on your face.

It will keep you from being judgmental of others. It becomes a lot easier for us to show compassion to others who have failed when we remember our own failures. And again, we have all failed in one way or another. It will also help you to relate to what they are going through.

None of us wants to fail. And we should do all that we know how to do to keep from falling. But, if we fall, God can still bring something positive out of it.
