Seven Negatives That God Can Make Into Positives (Part V)

Hello my friends. Today we will continue with our teaching on Seven Negatives That God Can turn Into Positives. We have already considered the first four which are temptation, failure, discipline, and trials and suffering. The fifth is...
V. Walking In Humility
The fifth thing that seems negative at the moment but that brings something very positive into our life is learning to walk in humility with a servant’s heart. Is this something the Lord expects from us? Yes, we are admonished many times in scripture to do this. For example, in Philippians 2:3 (NIV) the apostle Paul wrote, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” And in Mark 9:35 (KJV) Jesus said, “If any man desire to
be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” The apostle Peter also addressed this issue in 1 Peter 5:5 (KJV) saying, "All of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility.”
Walking in humility and having a servant's heart are two things that do not come easily or naturally to most of us. Being last of all does not seem like a desirable goal to strive for. But the question we are considering is "Can God bring something good out of it?"
The answer is yes. God spoke through the apostle Peter telling us to “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6 KJV). Those that humble themselves will eventually be lifted up by God. Not only that but God promises those that walk in humility something else. 1 Peter 5:5b (NKJV) tells us that “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Who would want God to resists him or her? What we should desire is to be the recipient of his grace. It's not always easy to serve others and to humble ourselves. But God will turn it into something very positive.
